HBCU Love Reunited (Baltimore, MD)

Calesha: It all started the evening of October 8th, 2011, walking the campus of Morgan State University. It was homecoming!!!!! I attended MSU and initially was not going to attend homecoming but at the last minute, my cousin and I decided to go. Most homecoming festivities were over by the time we got on the campus that night, but we decided to walk around the campus for a few. My cousin was approached by Antonio’s frat brother and as they talked Keivon and I started to have small talk. We realized we had a few things in common such as both working in the education field, at the end of the conversation we exchanged numbers and met for our first group date that following weekend!

Q: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?

Antonio: We both push each other to new limits and motivate each other as we have overcome our own personal and professional endeavors. Family time and traveling are also big factors in our relationship that we both cherish. Being opposites in our personalities, her bubbly personality and me being laid back help to create balance for us.

Q: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)

Antonio: When we made our relationship official on New Year’s Day in 2012 while on a trip visiting my family for the holidays, this was also her first time meeting my family.

Q: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

Calesha: Antonio randomly suggested for us to go for a walk on Morgan’s campus that day. I thought this was rather odd for two reasons, 1). It’s March and cold outside and I hate the cold and 2) he’s never been the let’s go for a random walk type of guy lol. We get to the campus and began walking until Keivon asked a stranger to take a family picture of us (our daughter was with us) while smiling for the family photo, he got on bended knee, and ask the question, I said yes, and our next journey began.

Q: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!

Antonio: For a couple of months Calesha would flood my phone with pictures of different rings she loved. Once I went ring shopping I had a good idea of the kind of ring she desired.

Calesha: I love my ring!!! All that help I gave him flooding his phone with random ring pics guided him all the way right!

Q: Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?

Calesha: I am in full planning mode, we have decided to have a destination wedding in JAMAICA!!!! The island of ONE LOVE is the perfect place to begin a new chapter together as husband and wife. We can’t wait to experience the beautiful island together with our family and friends!
