Styled Shoot: Garden Glam DC at the Hill Center (Washington D.C.)

As told by Lynn Muldrow of Exquisite Images: CM Events (Candice Patterson Creative Director) wanted to design a shoot that was romantic with glamorous touches but also complimented the venue. DC has a lot of historic buildings, and sometimes it’s challenging to design weddings for couples who want a design that is more modern and not rustic or vintage. The color palette of this Styled Shoot included black, white, gold and blush with greenery. There also was a lot of greenery to complement the outdoor space and “garden glam” feel we were going for. We really loved the romantic touches we incorporated, such as the scalloped plates, lace linen overlay, bridal dress and veil, and floral in the altar design.

Amy Lauren was the floral designer and garden style arrangements are her specialty. The flowers were various garden roses including standards like cappuccino. Assorted greenery was used and some even foraged to give a more organic look. The bouquet is hand-tied, full of garden roses and finished with silk ribbon by Jefferson Lane. We also incorporated floral accents on the mirror seating chart, cocktail tables, cake table, and used 3 arrangements – 2 tall and 1 low medium for the dinner tables. The cake was smooth and champagne and ivory in color with a gold layer, and included a sugar flower with lots of ruffly petals and black on the ruffled edges to match the black floral stationery.

The bride wore a very romantic lace top gown with sheer/illusion accents and long train. We loved that the bottom was simple and hugged the body, leaving all the detail for the bodice/top. The cathedral veil was a perfect compliment to the dress; the laced edge of the veil gave the modern bride a really romantic and classic look. The black pumps from Bella Belle still allowed the bride to have a little edgy modern element while still remaining elegant. The groom wore a standard black tux and tie from Generation Tux.

The seating chart was painted and handmade by the CM Events team. The place cards and wax seals are from Emily Baird.

The tablescape included fine linen with lace overlay by Nuage, gold cutlery, black chivari chairs, custom menu cards with wax seals, fine Vera china in bone with gold scalloped edges, gold flatware, crystal cut wine glasses, custom laser cut black table number to match the chairs and the black accents in the stationery. For a unique detail we decided to fold each napkin setting a different way; some vertical and some horizontal alternating the settings. Lastly, we finished the table design with garden inspired floral arrangements, 2 high and 1 low with taper candles on each side.
