Styled Indian Wedding Portraits (Tigard, OR)
Anitra and Dan are newlyweds and their love radiates wherever they go. Because they are already married, we decided to do some portraits to celebrate their wedding and focus purely on letting go and being artistic. I found that Dan and Anitra were already so easygoing and lovely to work with that I got to experiment and create some artful images. I also was able to connect with some amazing vendors I will link below. This styled portrait session is one of my favorites, and I love that I was able to experience this with them here in the Northwest. – Darien Chui Photography

Q1: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A1: We decided to stick to an Indian theme for clothing since that is my background. The colors consisted of golds and reds mainly.
Q2: Let’s talk about wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
A2: The biggest decor must have been the Chinese lantern ceiling consisting of white and Tiffany teal lanterns of all sizes. The dessert table was also a highlight.
Q3: What were the florals like at your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
A3: Flowers did not take the spotlight away and were tastefully done to enhance and not be overbearing.
Q4: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment, etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
A4: We had my husband’s dad play in his band and we also had a photo booth,
Q5: Let’s talk about fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
A5: The main feature was an approximately 40-pound Indian ballgown, woven with metal thread into lush velvet for the bride. The groom wore silk Indian attire to compliment. The second outfit was a more traditional red sari with gold work with the groom in a lighter silk outfit.
Q6: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A6: We met at his work- an automotive customization shop. Cars are a hobby of mine and he just happened to work there. Courting took a while since he felt the need to be super professional and he was not sure of my intentions either since I am not a flirtatious girly girl. We saw fireworks on the 4th of July after several months and after a few hiccups, we had a date on the beach. Rest is history! He proposed on a hot air balloon named Crater Lake; it was perfect.
Q7: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A7: Saying “I Do.” I cried, it was embarrassing!
Q8: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
A8: Be prepared to spend twice what you budgeted! Also, focus on the timeline of events for the wedding. If we could do it over, we would have entered sooner than we did. Definitely hire a professional wedding photographer like DC; we had another crew shoot the other events and they are totally useless candid shots.
