Romantic Stone Tower Winery Engagement Session (Leesburg, VA)
Event Info
Location: Leesburg, VA, US
Event Date: June 28, 2020
Album Story
These two met in high school about seven years ago through a mutual friend. They never were able to go on a date, but they texted back and forth. Finally, in 2016 they went on their first date and have been together ever since. Now, Nia is a 3rd-grade teacher, and Isaiah is a law enforcement officer. They are so excited for their wedding/honeymoon to celebrate with friends and take a break from their jobs! They’ve been together for about three and a half years!
During the second week of the Covid-19 quarantine, Nia began to get anxious and restless with him not being home at night and with the news stories that were emerging. Isaiah sent Nia on a scavenger hunt to get her mind off of things. There were a series of riddles that had Nia going all over the house, which included getting to know a little of his family history (which she was completely clueless about) then to places like where they had their first and second dates. Then, ending at Nia’s family’s house, where he had her put together all of the riddles to spell out “Will You Marry Me?” What she thought was just an activity to keep my mind off of reality and keep her busy for a few hours, turned out to be much more.

Client Questionnaire
Q1: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?
A1: We met in high school about 7 years ago through a mutual friend who is now going to be the best man. We would see each other in person around town and he was always too shy to say anything to me. We texted back and forth for a few years and made plans but they never came through. Finally, in 2016 we went on our first date on his 21st birthday. We have been together ever since!
Q2: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?
A2: If you ask anyone that we know, we are always the ones that take care of other people. I am a 3rd-grade teacher, and he is a First Responder. We are constantly doing everything we can to help others. Because of our opposite work schedule, we value the simple things together: drinking wine, watching Netflix/Disney+, and eating a good meal. We truly appreciate the little things when we are together.
Q3: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)
A3: I realized that Nia was the one when I realized that we were raised with the same values and morals. I could be myself without fear of judgment or failure. I realized Isaiah was the one when he survived a night out with my friends. Shortly after, he became the new favorite among my group of friends.
Q4: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?
A4: Isaiah had purchased the ring a while ago and had plans to propose at my family vacation in August. Because of everything happening, he decided to do it much sooner than planned! During the second week of the Covid-19 quarantine, I began to get anxious and restless with him not being home at night and with the news stories that were emerging. He told me he was going to send me on a scavenger hunt to get my mind off of things. There were a series of riddles that had me going all over the house, which included getting to know a little of his family history (which I was completely clueless about) then to places like where we had our first and second dates. Then, ending at my family’s house where he had me put together all of the riddles to spell out “Will You Marry Me?” What I thought was just an activity to keep my mind off of reality and keep me busy for a few hours, turned out to be much more.
Q5: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!
A5: I absolutely love my ring! I love the simple design. I told him I wanted a round diamond and plain band. I had hundreds of pins on my Pinterest board and I’m glad he paid attention! I hope to add something for each anniversary!
Q6: What are you most excited about when it comes to your wedding planning?
A6: To be honest… neither of us has enjoyed wedding planning. We are probably one of the most hands-off couples when it comes to planning. It’s been amazing working with vendors that are so creative and organized to keep us on track! We are excited to get to the wedding day and celebrate with our family and friends! We have always been looking forward to the experience rather than the details.
