Quaint Spring Engagement Session (Philadelphia, PA)

As told by Yanique B Photography:  When I asked Yaeisha when they would like to schedule their session, she immediately answered “Spring!”  She loved the Cherry Blossoms and Magnolia trees that often line the Philly Streets.

Yaeisha and Howard’s vision for the session closely resembled a day in their lives, as they both love taking strolls in each of the locations we shot at. Wissahickon Valley Park, Fountain Street Steps, and Glendinning Rock Garden are all locations they often visit on their long walks together.

Location: Philadelphia, PA, US
Event Date: April 13, 2019
Venue: Private Residence

Client Questionnaire

Q1: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?
A1: We met on an online dating site. OkCupid to be specific. Howard likes to fib and says that we met at the gym.

Q2: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?
A2: We laugh a lot together, and I think that’s a bit aspect in our relationship that keeps it strong. We like to play pranks on each other from time to time. We both enjoy being active, and we both have an interest in powerlifting. I tease him and say that I’ll deadlift more weight than him.  We definitely share a love of food. I’m spoiled in that Howard makes most of our meals, though he usually assesses “Shipping & Handling Fees” to my food, where he steals some, something that also makes me laugh like crazy.

Q3: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)
A3: Time didn’t seem to exist when I was with Howard. Our dates would last into the wee hours of the morning. He always had me laughing to the point of tears even. I remember being with him at a local park the Fall after we began dating, and I told him that he had many qualities that I wanted in a life partner.

Q4: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?
A4: I kind of knew it it was coming since his sister took me to a jeweler to see what I liked. I was at work one regular weekday and Howard told me he had to tell me something, but that he had to tell me in person. Howard left his job 45 minutes away to come to see me at my job. He had gotten me roses and a card, which I thanked him for. I asked him what he needed to tell me. He leaned back coolly on his car, gave me a sly grin, and asked if I would marry him. I chuckled and said only if he promised me a lifetime of scrapple (a PA delicacy). He agreed.

Q5: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!
A5: I love sapphires and knew I didn’t want a traditional diamond. Howard picked out a sapphire solitaire with a twisted band (another favorite of mine) lined with diamonds. I love my ring; it’s unique and quirky, like me.

Q6: Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?
A6: We tied the knot on 6/29/19. After a long engagement, we were excited to just be married. I knew I wanted to be married at a local chapel in our city. It was beautifully designed and they did all of the work for us.
