Intimate Backyard Wedding in the North Carolina Mountains (Vilas, NC)
As told by Dani Nicole Photography: This is the wedding of Laura and German, a self-proclaimed unconventional couple, who decided to host their celebration at the top of a mountain in Boone, North Carolina. I happily drove the two hours from Charlotte to photograph their wedding, winding through mountain roads and breathing in the crisp air and always breathtaking scenery.
Together with their families and a handful of friends, they rented out a beautiful home for the weekend and transformed it into an intimate space for the coming together of not only husband and wife, but the creation of a blended family. The simple, yet perfect details that created their day were light and airy, pulling in some moody inspiration from the nature surrounding them.
Every moment I was able to capture, from Laura gathering together with her sisters before the ceremony to a guitar making its random appearance after dinner complete with an impromptu sing-a-long (of beautiful Spanish music, might I add, which comes with the territory when joining together a Cuban bride and Ecuadorean groom) to a spectacular rainbow gracing us with its presence after a quick farewell-to-summer shower to whisking Laura and German outdoors into the fading sunlight and cool – dare I even say, cold, swooning over fall… – evening air for a frolic through the fields was full of laughter, warmth, and pure love.
Although Laura’s main emphasis for her wedding photos were making sure there were plenty of candids, I think half of her album is going to be her and German’s couple portraits… with the backdrop God gave us along with the fun loving personality that these two pull out of each other, my lack of posing skills didn’t even matter!
