DIY Backyard Wedding (Alberta, Canada)
Jennifer and Simon met 4 years ago on an online dating website, Plenty Of Fish. Their first date was at Pho Number one (Vietnamese restaurant) in Winnipeg. To this day, Simon never wants Jennifer to eat Pho again since it took so long for Jennifer to finish her meal. To Jennifer’s defense, it wasn’t the best place to converse and slurp noodles, but Jennifer was craving Pho and wanted to showcase her culture to him. It was worth it in the end since it landed Jennifer a second date.
Jennifer and Simon maintained a long distance relationship until Simon decided to move back to Edmonton in Feb 2015. Jennifer’s highlights of the week when they were 4 provinces apart were: weekly video chats and daily texts to feel close together. Jennifer says their communication skills have strengthened which made their relationship work during difficult times. Simon proposed on Feb 16, 2016 and the couple were married on July 8, 2017 in a Backyard ceremony in Alberta.
