Classic Black, Blue, and Ivory Florida Wedding (Winter Garden, FL)
As told by Dante + Angie Photography: “Like many nowadays the newlyweds met online. Fred flew in from Arizona to Florida just to meet Cynthia for the first date, which was an entire week-long adventure. That started their 3-year long distance relationship that officially ended on May 20, 2017, when the happy couple tied the knot at Cynthia’s home church in Winter Garden, Fl. From a custom tailored suit to leaving the reception in the bride’s fathers Classic Packard, every detail was as beautiful as the couple themselves.”
Client Questionnaire
Q1: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A1: Our wedding was beautifully brought together by friends and family pitching in to make it a joyous unforgettable moment in time. I styled my wedding around the groom and groomsmen’s suits. I saw a stunning picture on Pinterest of 2 male models, one in a tux and the other a blue suit. I couldn’t get that out of my head! I focused on the blue colors and what I thought would give the Wow factor to my husband and my sons and started from there… Next, I focused on the flowers. Blue orchids were what came into my head. Cobalt blue became the color for my wedding.
Q2: Let’s talk about wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
A2: I planned the wedding myself. I painted the card basket Blue to match the wedding colors. I bought candle holders to keep it simple yet elegant. I printed out wedding Mad-libs for the guests to fill out while we were talking and hugging our way around the lobby.
Q3: What were the florals like at your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
A3: We had blue and white orchids on a trellis behind the pastor during the ceremony. The flower girl had blue orchids on a crown of ribbon which matched the blue sash on her dress. I also had white and ivory roses and white lily’s in my bouquet and bridesmaid bouquet. The men had white roses and the mothers of the bride had blue orchids wrist corsages. In the lobby for the reception, each table had two blossomed white orchid branches in cream and cobalt blue vases. Simple and elegant.
Q4: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment, etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
A4: I had checked around with caterers for appetizers and it was crazy how much they wanted to charge! So my sister and I came up with all the food choices. Everything was done in a short time with all the elements needed to make it a success without breaking the bank. My sister made the pulled pork with 7 different accompanying sauces. My mom made the slaw. My boss was kind enough to made 3 -4 large platters of crudites and a friend made the awesome raspberry filled cake covered in buttercream roses. The guests did wedding mad-libs I had printed from Pinterest to keep them occupied during the reception.
Q5: Let’s talk about fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
A5: My maid of honor and her daughter went with me to pick out my dress. I found an amazing deal on a dress at Dillard’s. My dress was a full-length ivory beaded gown with a small train. I bought 2 dresses because of the price! One was a cocktail dress. My husband’s tux was made for him because he is tall and muscular. We went to Men’s Warehouse and had a tailor to create it. We knew the color blue for the coat and black for the pants because of the photo I found on Pinterest. My husband wanted an ivory shirt because it matched my dress. We got 2 suits because it was BOGO.
Q6: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A6: We met online on a website called Our Time. At the time I lived in Florida and he lived in Arizona. We met after 3 months of chatting online and had a week-long first date. It was an amazing adventure in Florida. We did sightseeing, a beach, a theme park and even managed to catch a beautiful sunset. He asked me to be his steady girlfriend at the end. On our 2-year anniversary date, exactly 2 years after we first met online, he asked me to marry him. I said yes. We dated online for another year and got married after 3 years of dating.
Q7: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A7: Our Honeymoon! I had planned a bed and breakfast in New Smyrna Beach. It was at Inn on the Avenue. It was wonderful and the weather was perfect. We woke up to a breakfast with eggs benedict and signature pancakes made on griddles built into the table. After that, we went to Sante Fe, New Mexico to a bed and breakfast which has been there for over 100 years. Pueblo Inn Bed and Breakfast. It was amazing!
Q8: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
A8: Enjoy your wedding day!! Remember to anticipate things that could happen to change the flow of the day. If you do that you are less likely to stress.
