Cap-Haitien Destination Wedding (Haiti)

Justin and Traci met in 2005 at FAU when they both 19 years old. Justin told Traci she was very beautiful, he pursued her, and then Traci forgot his name. Following a moment of awkwardness and embarrassment the couple began to build a friendship that quickly transformed into a deep and rich love.

This couple has been on a very long and challenging journey since they first met, with miles of distance between them over the years. In 2007, Justin left FAU and moved to Washington D.C. Little did they know that from that point forward, their relationship would be long distance. The distance ranged from 1,015 miles to as little as 40 miles (but was still over an hour drive); all of which the couple traveled by flight, car and even train.

After enduring their long distance relationship for years, the long awaited proposal occurred on May 6, 2016, which was Justin’s birthday. From there, the couple went straight to planning their wedding.

Their wedding festivities were all immersed in Haitian culture, especially since they chose to have a destination wedding in Justin’s home country. From the food, to the tours of the Citadel and Sans Souci Palace, to the beautiful people and countryside, every aspect of the celebration was rich with Haitian culture.

Justin picked out his own tux for the wedding, so the couple saw each other’s attire for the first time at the altar. In addition to writing their own vows, they also each selected bible verses about marriage to be read during the ceremony without knowing what verse the other chose. Lastly, their wedding bands were a surprise and first seen by the other during the ring exchange at their ceremony.
