5 Tips for Picking Your Wedding Flowers
Choosing wedding flowers is such an essential part of your wedding décor that often goes overlooked. To help us figure out the best way to pick out wedding flowers, we briefly talked to Designer Annie Wang from Fleurissimo NYC, a wedding florist in NYC, who gave us some helpful tips on how to pick out flowers for your wedding day. She recommended the following tips:
#1. Know your budget. Knowing your budget and sticking to it ensures that you don’t end up spending more money on your wedding flowers than you can afford. It’s easy to get carried away when flower shopping. So, you should do you and your florist a favor by having a budget in mind.
#2. Know your requirements. Before visiting your florist, you should know how many arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages that you will need for your wedding day.
#3. Bring photos and samples of your colors. It’s a good idea to bring pictures of your wedding gown and the bridesmaid’s dresses etc. to your appointment with your florist. Additionally, bring samples of the colors you plan to use at your wedding ceremony and reception. The photos will be very helpful in choosing the right flowers for your big day.
#4. Use seasonal & regional flowers. To save on your wedding budget, it may be a good idea to use wedding flowers from your region or seasonal flowers (i.e., flowers typically available in the season in which you are getting married.) This will not only save you money but will also ensure that the flowers you pick are readily available on your wedding day.
#5. Rely on your florist’s expertise. Your wedding florist should have a photobook or website showcasing the wedding flowers and arrangements that they have designed. Your florist should be able to show you their best sellers to help you get ideas and inspiration. Additionally, you should talk to your florist about what flowers match the style of the wedding you want. For example, your flower choice for a casual wedding will be different from the flowers you would choose for a traditional wedding.
